Field Care
When you are gutting your deer for a Shoulder Mount, make sure you stop cutting as soon as you hit the breast plate. If you are unsure of where to stop, we will gut your deer for you at a low-cost fee. Caping is included in the taxidermy pricing. If your trophy is caped in the field, make sure you keep your cape frozen, but do not let it sit in water.
Small Mammals should not be skinned or field dressed. Bring animals in whole and we will do the rest for you. If you cannot immediately bring your animal to the shop, please freeze and keep dry.
With the epidemic of rabies evident in many areas of the Country, take every safety measure necessary when handling your game.
Birds should not be gutted. Bring in whole, if you are not able to bring in immediately, please place in bag and freeze until you bring it in. Be careful to not damage the feathers, including the tail. If the tail feathers don't fit in the bag, DO NOT bend.
Tips
Always have appropriate documentation with your trophy, such as tag or resource document
If the animal is being mounted and processed by two different places, please remember that the tag stays with the meat and a resource document accompanies the cape/antlers to their destination.
Songbirds, Eagles, Hawks and Owls are protected by Federal Law and cannot be mounted unless with special Federal permit.
